The moving dictionary

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sándor Weöres in 2013, the Petőfi Literary Museum created an exhibition that combines traditional elements of literary exhibitions with the latest multimedia interactive language games. Following the exhibition in Gheorgheni, the public in Ciuc can now also see this exciting and unique material.

Creative games based on Sándor Weöres' texts encourage active thinking and allow the reader to get to know the poet's poems better. Poetry spotting, poem drawing, cross stitching and mind blowing, 3D poem illustration, poem tapping and many other interesting and more interesting activities await the play-loving audience. Sándor Weöres' whole life was about experimenting with poetry and the musicality of language - its sound and rhythm - searching for the perfect form to express thought, and using the possibilities of the Hungarian language in a virtuoso way. "My work should be used, not admired with a gaping mouth", he writes in his poem Nagyság (Greatness). This is the wish of this half of our exhibition, created in collaboration with the Creative Technology Laboratory of the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design.

Weöres' ideal of the poet is "the poet deprived of his personality, who, freed from his own limitations, is able to experience the world as a whole". Yet in the traditional part of our exhibition, we offer a glimpse into a biography that is outside Weöres' poetry, but which has influenced its development. These thematic themes are presented primarily through Sándor Weöres's correspondence and confessions, quoting his words when he talks about his family, his masters, his teachers, his friends, literary life, historical and political events. We also have the opportunity to present to the public manuscripts, photographs, books and works of art from the collection of the Petőfi Literary Museum, as well as documents from other institutions.
