The Colony of Art Lăzarea celebrates its 50th anniversary. Following a fortunate meeting between the founding trio, the journalist Zöld Lajos and the visual artists Márton Árpád and Gaál András, on August 1, 1974, in a friendly atmosphere, an extraordinary story, full of complications and periods of crisis, took off with great enthusiasm, a story that has become history.

The exhibition organized on the jubilee occasion aims to offer a representative image of the collection from Lăzarea, internationally renowned and which includes almost 2,500 works. The selection is complemented by a chamber exhibition of the history of the institution and, in keeping with the character of the art colony, the exhibition is not only shaped within the limits of the designated exhibition spaces, but also includes outdoor works, which creatively relate to both the location and the spirit of the city of Miercurea-Ciuc.
