October's theme is inspired by the slowly change of nature into autumn colors, as well as the seasonal field work of picking potatoes.

A significant part of the fine art collection of the Szekler Museum of Ciuc is the legacy that Nagy Imre from Jigodin-Ciuc left us, which is why the institution believes it has the commission of preserving the memory of the great artist and putting, from time to time, his works available to the general public.

Imre Nagy's late work entitled "Potato Pickers" is a monumental piece, an oil composition with several characters, in which we seem to see a series of activities, movements and types of actions related to the theme. It is a significant and at the same time characteristic piece of Imre Nagy's last creative period. In the large-scale picture of village life, the space is crowded with powerful figures spiraling up the winding hills of the domestic landscape. In this unreal density, the atmosphere of this activity is almost nostalgically heard, which is familiar to many, but at the same time, the most important characters, characteristic figures and favorite themes of Imre Nagy's art are seen in action. The thousands of sketches in the collection of the Szekler Museum of Ciuc testify that, throughout his life, the master from Jigodin, as he did in the selected painting, created images with human figures, characteristic forms and movements associated with field work, as well as the theme of the landscape, the village or the animals that appear in large numbers, are of fundamental importance in his art. The appearance of the same figures and the framework characteristic of his art, in different works, creates a sense of familiarity.

Despite the simple, everyday nature of the chosen subject and the almost objective visualization of the activities that belong to village life, the work is a construction preceded by a long sketch, starting with the figure of the painter on the left side of the painting, which evokes Imre Nagy, continuing with the sturdy peasants of the earlier large paintings (eg Apple Pickers, Beet Pickers, My Village, etc.) to the animals that appear everywhere, from the figures that populate the contours of the landscape to the horizon that is almost out of the picture. The pictorial world of Imre Nagy is presented to us summarized in a single image.
