Góbéságok

István Para's latest exhibition presents the caricatures made in the last three years, covering the theme of Szekler humour, entitled Góbéságok in the Kossuth Street Gallery of the Szekler Museum of Ciuc.

The exhibition will be opened on Thursday 5 November at 18:00 by László Lázár Lövétei, editor-in-chief of the Szekelyföld cultural magazine.

According to his autobiography, István Para, graphic artist and cartoonist, was born very young, had a quiet childhood, did not like to go to school, and started drawing on the school bench. He has drawn for more than 50 newspapers and magazines, designs book covers, illustrates books, but also designs/makes posters, flyers, T-shirts and sometimes paints pub murals. He has published three books of cartoons, two of which have been half-finished and lying in his drawer for years. He has exhibited his prints and sculptures in several exhibitions at home and abroad.

"One of my uncles (God rest his soul!), when asked why he didn't buy a colour TV, replied succinctly: - It kills the eyes!

We can save our eyes by looking at colour Para-cartoons. And our bellies. And our brains. If we have them" - László Lázár Lövétei
