The "Szervátiusz" Foundation is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, on which occasion, at the Szekler Museum of Ciuc, an exhibition of the works of art of those artists from the Carpathian Basin, who in the last 20 years have been awarded by the foundation with the "Szervátiusz Jenő Prize", was opened.
The Szervátiusz Foundation was founded in 2003 by the sculptor Szervátiusz, an artist awarded with the "Kossuth Tibor Prize", and his wife, Klára, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the artist's father, Jenő Szervátiusz, an illustrious sculptor himself. At the same time, the foundation created the "Szervátiusz Jenő Award" with the aim of drawing attention to Hungarian art and Hungarian artists born in the Carpathian Basin. The award is given annually to visual artists who, through their art, present the roots of national culture in a remarkable way. The culture of forms is - along with language and music - the most important force for preserving the identity of a nation, the key to its survival. Since 2005, there has been the alternative "Szervátiusz Jenő" award, which is given to those who, through their work, contribute to strengthening the sense of Hungarian national identity. In 2018, Klára Servátiusz founded the "Servátiusz Tibor Scholarship" which is awarded to participants of artistic education in Transylvania, for a period of one year.
In addition to the works of Jenő Szervátiusz and Tibor Szervátiusz, the following artists are exhibited: Anna Kubinyi, Győző Somogyi, Tibor Rieger, Sándor Györfi, Lajos Győrfy, Éva Barabás, Csilla Kákonyi, Árpád Márton, András Gaál, Lajos Páll, Vince Bocskay, Lajos Bardócz, István Árkossy, Hunor Gyurkovics, Iván Berend, János Nagy, Ottó Szabó, Péter Matl, Gábor Homoki, Mária Petrás and Alina Petrás.
The exhibition can be visited at the Szekler Museum of Ciuc, from Tuesday to Sunday, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. every day, until November 30, 2023.
